Acute Bilateral Brachial Plexopathy -A Case Report-
Received: 18 April 2016   • Revised: 8 June 2016   • Accepted: 8 June 2016
Abstract
The brachial plexus is the most complex structure in the peripheral nervous system. It supplies most of the upper extremity and has large size and superficial location. Brachial plexopathy results from various causes such as trauma, inflammation, radiation etc. Bilateral brachial plexopathy is very rare and it usually results in poor functional outcome. We report a rare case which developed paralysis of both arms due to ischemia of the brachial plexus as a result of prolonged malposition of the arms during sleep following excessive alcohol drinking. The patient showed a good recovery.
Key Words: bilateral brachial plexopathy, malposition, ischemia
