A Case of True Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Electrophysiologic Findings and Long-term Outcome After Surgery |
|
Abstract |
True neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome is rare entrapment neuropathy. Its electro-physiologic findings and long term outcome after surgery are not well known. We report 21-year-old woman who presented with medial arm and forearm tingling sensation with intrinsic hand muscle weakness for 3 years. Electrophysiologic test revealed lower trunk brachial plexopathy (mainly T1 segment). Cervical rib was observed on X-ray. Surgical removal of cervical rib was done. 5 year after surgery, The clinical finding for the C8 segment was improved but T1 segment did not improved. Early detection and early treatment of true neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome is important for its prognosis. |
