A Case of Peripheral Meuropathy with Tetanus Infection
Abstract
It is well known that the tetanospasmin interrupts axonal transport in the peripheral nerve as well as spinalRenshaw cell inhibitory function. But there has been little attention about polyneuropathy caused by thetetanospasmin. We experienced a case of sensorymotor polyneuropathy after tetanus recovery. The clinicaland electrophysiological evidence suggest that the involvement of peripheral nerves in tetanus is notas uncommon as we previously thought.
Key Words: Tetanus, Polyneuropathy
