Trigeminal Sensory Neuropathy Associated with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Abstract
Trigeminal sensory neuropathy (TSN) is an uncommon clinical condition that results in facial numbnessin the distribution of the fifth cranial nerve. TSN is commonly associated with connective tissue disease(CTD) such as scleroderma, Sjo¨ gren syndrome, mixed connective tissue disease, rheumatoid arthritis, anddermatomyositis, but the pathogenesis of TSN associated CTD remains obscure. We reported a patientwho presented with TSN as an initial manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus with review of theliteratures.
