Brachial Plexopathy Combined with Radiculopathy in Neurofibromatosis |
|
Abstract |
A 49-year-old female patient who had neurofibromatosis type I complained severe pain at the left upper limb. On physical examination, there was a large mass in the left supraclavicular fossa. Dysesthesia and weakness was localized in the distributions of C5, 6 dermatomes and myotomes. Brachial MRI showed malignant nerve sheath tumor in the left shoulder, which was extended to cervical spinal canal. The tumor was resected partially. After the operation, dysesthesia was improved, but weakness was persistent. The electrodiagnostic studies showed left brachial plexopathy with more involvement at the upper and middle trunks with superimposed cervical radiculopathy. |
