|
Abstract |
Objectives: Postoperative neurologic complications after abdominopelvic operation were reported by other studies. But there has been no report of lumbar plexopathy caused by remnant ureter excisional operation. Methods: A 38-year-old woman admitted for operation of cystic mass in pelvic cavity. During the operation, retractors were used to aid in exposure. The mass in right pelvic cavity was excised. After the operation, she had allodynia of the right lower leg. Also she had weakness of the right knee extensor and hip adductor, and the right hip flexors. Nerve conduction studies and needle electromyographic study were performed, and we diagnosed that lumbar plexopathy. And then, she was started physical therapy. On follow-up at 5 weeks, neurologic examination revealed much improved strength in the hip flexor, knee extensors. Conclusions: Lumbar plexopathy after remnant ureter excisional operation has not been reported, so we report such a case. |
