Acute Brachial Neuritis Concomitant with Ankylosing Spondylitis |
|
Abstract |
Brachial neuritis is a peripheral neuropathy that starts with sharp pain on shoulder followed by motor weakness and muscle atrophy. The aetiology is unknown. A 22-year-old man with undiagnosed low back pain presented with clinical evidence of brachial neuritis. The patient was diagnosed with brachial neuritis and ankylosing spondylitis by clinical histories, electromyography and x-ray findings. He was taken steroid pulse therapy and his shoulder symptom was improved immediately and improvement persisted for a long time. Considering the effect of steroid, brachial neuritis in this patient may be related with autoimmune reaction. |
