A Case Report of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection Presenting with Aseptic Meningitis and Acute Bilateral Facial Palsy
Abstract
In association with human immunodifiency virus (HIV) infection, various neurological complications are now recognized. These complications occur at all stages of infection and involve any level of central and peripheral nervous system. Neurological complications, such as aseptic meningitis, encephalopathy, neuropathy, myelopathy, and brachial neuritis, develop in association with primary HIV infection. Facial palsy associated with HIV infection has not been reported in Korea. We herein report a case of aseptic meningitis with bilateral facial palsy manifested as initial symptoms of primary HIV infection.
